About Meenu:

Dr. Meenakshi Mohan, Ed. D., often referred to as Meenu, is an educator, freelance writer, poet, art critic, and painter.  She has taught at numerous universities such as Towson University, Montgomery College, National-Louis University, Wheelock College, Roosevelt University, and William Rainey Harper College.

Meenu specializes in Early Childhood Leadership and Advocacy and has published widely in this area and presented numerous papers and workshops.  She strives to use reflective teaching methods to allow students to construct meaning from real-life experiences. Some of her academic writings and books include motivational learning and an art integrated curriculum. Stanford University digitally houses her writings in its initiative of Life in Quarantine, and her book reviews, art critics, interviews, and poems regularly appear in different journals. She authored two children’s picture books titled The Rainbow in My Room and The Gift. She has also edited Tamam Shud: Poems of Kshitij Mohan, and co-edited An Anthology of Poems for Children.

Achievements and Accolades:

Meenu received several awards for her excellence in teaching from the universities she has taught and has been listed twice in Who is Who Among American Teachers. Some of her other awards include:

Meenu recently had a solo exhibit of her paintings in Potomac, Maryland, though most of her paintings are part of private collections. She is being nominated in January 2021 as the Artist of the Month by DCSAACI (DC South Asian Arts Council, Inc.). She has been featured several times in the local journals in the Maryland area. Furthermore, she has also participated in the DC South Asian Literary Festival, May 2021, as a presenter in discussing Poetry: How Does Language Matter. Meenu is currently on the Montgomery County Library System's Advisory Committee in its Potomac branch. She is on the Editorial Team for Inquiry in Education, a peer-reviewed journal published by National Louis University, Chicago, Illinois. As an editorial member, she reviews, edits, writes articles, does academic book reviews and editorials. Her other former and current services include:

  • Parents Without Partners, Inc, Supervised data entry clerks, proofreaders and other assistants. Ensured that the membership records of 200,000 members were processed

Forthcoming Projects:

Some of the projects that Meenu is currently undertaking include numerous books such as a children’s storybook with integrated curriculum resources for educators and parents, children’s poems, and a book compiling her own paintings and poems. She is also currently working on several articles, poems, and paintings that will be published in different anthologies.
